St. Peter's Luthern Church Loganville WI

Our Church's Early History

This frame church was constructed in 1874.

1876 St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church is organized.1886 The congregation joins the Iowa Synod.1889 Church building enlarged, basement dug.1901 A new parsonage was constructed at a cost of $1,850.1906 A Parochial School teacher was hired for $350 per year.1909 The Missionfest Stand was constructed in church park.1911 The Parochial School house was built.1918 A service flag was dedicated to honor soldiers.1921 The church was electrified at a cost of $380.1927 The present brick church was completed.1928 Sunday School was begun.1931 The Parochial school was discontinued.1932 A Luther League was organized.1933 Last Confirmation class taught in German.1949 We join the Wisconsin District of the ALC.1959 A scholarship fund was established.1970 Women given the vote at congregational meetings.1975 Fifth grade communion established.1976 Centennial celebration, we sponsored a Laotian family.1980 New green hymnals dedicated.1983 Handicapped entrance installed.1984 Lutheran Lay Renewal program held at church.1988 We became the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.1990 A new parsonage was completed.1993 Stained glass windows refurbished1996 Lutheran Lay Renewal program offered1998 New addition to church, classrooms, office, elevator.2001 Celebrated 125th anniversary of the church2003 Redecoration of church interior, carpet, air conditioning.2008 New Electronic organ installed. Pipe organ removed. 2010 Congregation members remodel David Burmester’s home. Prayer Shawl ministry began.2012 New carpet put in basement. 2014 Pastor Donald Glanzer, Jr. becomes the new minister. The parsonage is remodeled. Artificial Christmas trees are used for the first time. Holy Communion to be celebrated every Sunday.2015 St. Peter's participates in Fermentation Fest for the first time. WIFI service installed throughout church. 2016 Members serve open meal at St. Johns Reedsburg. Some stained glass windows repaired. Movie night held in ballpark. 2017 A new audio-video system is installed so the service bulletin can be projected on a large screen. We commemorate the 141st anniversary of the founding of St. Peter’s. 2018 A “Cowboy” worship service is held. Occupaws program presented, highlighting the training of service dogs. The 90th Anniversary of the Sunday School is celebrated. The clock tower is renovated and new clocks are installed. 2019 Planning begins to install a new front entrance. The fire alarm system is upgraded. Heart & Hands Award is presented to St. Peter's. Vicar Tyler Hoey is welcomed to St. Peter's as our first
  • intern.
2020 The Internet is upgraded to fiberoptic. Facebook broadcasts of worship services begin, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In- sanctuary services curtailed for rest of the year. Most church meetings and classes are held on Zoom video conferencing. The new entry construction is completed. Vicar Stephen Nilsen is welcomed for a year's tenure. 2021 Vicar Nathaniel Adkins is welcomed for for a year's tenure. In- church services begin again this year. 2022 Pastor Don Glanzer retired from St. Peters. A new pastor is being sought.
